I just finished working my long week, so now I get a four-day weekend. I won't have to be back at work until Sunday night. I really enjoy getting all of my working out of the way in three or four days every week and then having three or four days off.
What would be ideal would be a job where you did two back-to-back 24-hour shifts and then had a five-day weekend every week. A lot of ambulance personnel work that schedule, and I think it would be a great way for dispatchers to work too. We could have cots in the dispatch room and sleep until 9-1-1 rang or someone called on the radio. The phones and radios would be loud enough to wake the dispatchers up, so we could answer the phone, enter the call, dispatch it, and go back to sleep. Then, at the end of two days, you could go home and enjoy your time off for the next five days. I think any agency that implemented that schedule would be flooded with people wanting to work for them.
